Spurs players left dismayed by Mourinho's old-school tactics (Sun)

Jose Mourinho's methods are coming under increased scrutiny by Tottenham players amid growing unrest at his style within the squad.

Spurs have not won any of their last four Premier League games and go into Wednesday night's game at home to Norwich nine points off the Champions League places.

They have lost to both Liverpool and Southampton recently, and were held by Norwich and Watford, and there is reportedly mounting tension within the dressing room.

According to The Sun, Tottenham players have been left 'dismayed by his old-school tactics and uninspiring training sessions'.

It is claimed several key players have become disillusioned with Mourinho's tactics after just two months in charge, despite initially welcoming his appointment after Mauricio Pochettino's departure.

The report suggests Mourinho's training sessions are 'said to have an over-emphasis on long balls, flick-ons and throw-ins' and are too basic for the Tottenham squad.

A number of players are also said to be unhappy with the way Mourinho has treated summer signing Tanguy Ndombele.

Mourinho publicly criticised the Frenchman over his inconsistent fitness and there are growing concerns that any chance he had of flourishing in north London is now gone.

As reported by Sportsmail, Danny Rose and Mourinho had a heated exchange after the left back was excluded for last Saturday's goalless draw with Watford.

Rose sought an explanation from his manager on Friday, before taking issue with Mourinho again the day after the match.

The former Manchester United manager is also facing the pressure of finding a replacement for Harry Kane in the January transfer window.

Kane faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines with a hamstring problem, fueling speculation that Tottenham could target the likes of Edinson Cavani of PSG and AC Milan's Krzysztof Piatek.

Christian Eriksen also looks likely to leave the club this month for Inter Milan as Spurs face the threat of losing one of their key players for nothing in the summer.

Rose, fit to return against Norwich on Wednesday, is wanted on loan by Newcastle, but Spurs would prefer to sell.

Meanwhile, Spurs' interest in Norwich right back Max Aarons has cooled because Mourinho wants a taller, more physical player.
