Former Tottenham midfielder Milos Veljkovic is quickly making a name for himself at Werder Bremen.

The Serb, 20, left Spurs last summer for Werder, signing a deal to 2019.

He was initially registered with the club's U23 team, but was soon promoted to the first team squad.

Now Veljkovic is being likened to Bayern Munich midfielder Xabi Alonso, after impressing in wins against Bayer Leverkusen and Hannover.

Veljkovic told BILD: "Its been a super experience. My goal was to get as quickly as possible into the first team.

"I'm a quiet guy, I want to act calmly in my position. It is important for my teammates, then they can pass the ball to me in peace."

Werder chief Thomas Eichin added: "We are very pleased with him. He is certainly one of the greatest talents in his class."
