Ghana defender Samuel Inkoom has named FC Basel’s St Jakob-Park as the best stadium he has played in as a footballer.

Inkoom, 30, donned the shirt of FC Basel for two years, making 43 appearances and scoring one goal before leaving to join Ukrainian side Dnipro in 2011.

The marauding right-back’s nomadic career has seen him play in ten different countries since leaving Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko in 2009.

However, the Ghana international says it is the St Jakob-Park that has left an indelible impression on his football memory in terms of the best stadiums he enjoyed his football.

"Well it has to be St. Jakob-Park – home of FC Basel. It was here that I played against the likes of Bayern Munich in a Champions League match and I simply loved playing in that particular stadium," he told Sports Tourism Media co-editor Ramy Salameh.

He added: "The fans appreciated me and they loved my style of play, as I would make over-lapping runs forward. Anytime I had the ball the fans knew I would be making these attacking runs and would scream my name. Also, this was the stadium that gave me a global footballing profile and platform. I loved the fans so much."

Inkoom, who featured for Ghana at the 2010 World Cup, has played for DC United, SC Bastia, Platanias, Boavista, Dunav Ruse, Antalyaspor and Vereya.

He currently plies his trade with Georgian elite division side Samtredia.
