St Pauli coach Timo Schultz claims he is glad to have key man Daniel Kofi-Kyereh back after the attacker exited the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in the first round with Ghana.

Schultz bemoaned Kyereh’s absence early this month as Pauli struggled to compete in the Bundesliga II.

Without Kyereh, St Pauli failed to win a league match and they no longer occupy the top spot in their bid for promotion to the Bundesliga.

"I'm glad he's back,” said Schultz after Keyreh rejoined the club last week following Ghana’s shock early exit.

Despite arriving earlier in the week, Schultz decided not to use him in the derby defeat to Hamburger SV last Friday.

Before the match, Schultz said, "We have a few players with exceptional skills, Kofi is definitely one of them. We cannot replace him one-for-one.”

Kyereh has been impressive for St Pauli this season with 14 goal contributions to his name. He has scored five and set up nine goals, making him one of the best playmakers in the league.

His playmaking skills were evident at the Afcon, especially in the Comoros game. His brilliant corner kicks led to Ghana’s two goals in a 3-2 loss.
