'Stay at home to save lives' - Ronaldo offers his advice on coronavirus pandemic

The Portuguese striker remains in his native Funchal on the island of Madeira and is helping his mother recover following her recent discharge from hospital.

Cristiano Ronaldo took to his personal Twitter account to offer a message of support in the face of the Covid-19 virus which has impacted on daily life around the world.

He posted on Monday: "In this difficult moment for the whole world, let's be thankful for the things that matter - our health, our family, our loved ones. Stay home and let’s help all the health workers out there fighting to save lives."

The player's club, Juventus was one of the first teams to impose self-isolation on their squad as the Covid-19 pandemic swept across Italy.
