Stevanovic defends Ghana's disciplinary record at AFCON

Ghana coach Goran Stevanovic insists his team is not a rough side despite having four players sent of in the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations.

Captain John Mensah, his usual defensive pair Isaac Vorsah, newcomer John Boye as well as midfielder Derek Boateng were all sent of during the Black Stars' failed campaign to win the Nations Cup in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.

Ghana also recorded a host of yellow cards and this the Serbian trainer says is becoming a real concern.

“I did not know that my players were physical because every game we had a red card,” Stevanovic said.

“I don’t know why. We need to see what happened.”

Ghana was unable to win anything at the 2012 CAN after starting off the competition as tournament favourites.

They lost the third-pace playoff 2-0 against a more hungrier Mali side at Estadio de Malabo on Saturday.
