Sunderland boss Steve Bruce is confident Asamoah Gyan and Stephane Sessegnon can form a formidable partnership next season.
Bruce is planning to use a 4-4-1-1 system next season, with Benin international Sessegnon playing in a second striker role behind the bigger Gyan.
The Sunderland boss hopes Sessengnon can establish himself as a key player during the coming campaign after impressing in pre-season.
He told the Chronicle: "Sess has come back and he's in good shape which gives us hope.
"We'll look to keep him there because I always think that's his best position.
"There are not many teams now, who play two out-and-out strikers. One's always off in the midfield area.
"It suits Sess and it suits the team and I'm very pleased with what I've seen of him."
