Stoke ace Adam hits back at official Chelsea website

Stoke City midfielder Charlie Adam has hit out at Chelsea's official website.

The match report writers complained about Adam's all-action performance in Stoke's win.

The Scot responded, saying: “It's a man's game. It's as simple as that. It's there to be won, it's a 50-50.

"The game has gone a little bit. When was the last time you saw a proper British game? I remember when I was growing up, watching people like Patrick Vieira, Steven Gerrard, Roy Keane. These type of players were making hard, but fair, physical tackles which is great.

“Nowadays you can't go near anybody. Matic was the same. It's part and parcel of the game. To be fair, he didn't complain about it, he just got on with it and so did the Chelsea players. It's great to have those battles. That's what it is about. Football is a battle.

“I don't intend to go and hurt people but I want to win. If it had been the same situation, only the other way around, it would have been a great tackle."
