Ghana star Sulley Muntari scores in AC Milan victory over Lazio, Essien cameos

Ghana midfielder Sulley Muntari scored the second goal as AC Milan began their Serie A campaign with a 3-1 win over Lazio at the San Siro with his compatriot Michael Essien also playing a part in the victory.

The 30-year-old doubled Milan’s lead in the 56 minute when he volleyed home at full stretch from six yards Ignazio Abate’s from to volley at full stretch from six yards.

Muntari was replaced by compatriot Michael Essien on 67 minutes.

Keisuke Honda opened the scoring on seven minutes with a close range finish.

Stephan El Shaarawy burst from midfield past Stefan de Vrij and rolled across for the unmarked Keisuke Honda to turn in at the back post.

Jeremy Menez converted a penalty to make it 3-0 in the 63rd minute and Alex scored an own goal.

This is the first time in three years that the Rossoneri have been able to win the opening game.
