Sulley Muntari suffers injury in Ghana win over Gabon

Ghana midfielder Sulley Muntari suffered what looked like a serious back injury during Tuesday's friendly against Gabon.

The Italy-based player was taken off just before the break after falling awkwardly in the game in Paris.

Tests will be carried out on Wednesday to determine the full extent of injury.

"He was taken off as a precautionary measure but we will conduct more tests tomorrow to determine the full extent of injury," Ghana team doctor Dr. Percy Annan said.

Muntari was the captain the Black Stars as they won the game 2-1.

The enforcer was given the rare chance to lead his country after the absence of some key players in the key.

Regular captain John Mensah is unavailable because of illness while John Pantsil who would have deputised is absent because of visa problem.
