Ghana midfielder Sulley Muntari has praised defensive duo Rashid Sumaila and Jerry Akaminko for their sterling performances during the World Cup victory against Egypt.

The two centre-backs played together for the first time in Ghana colours and excelled at the Baba Yara stadium in front of a packed crowd.

Even though Sumaila conceded a penalty, the AC Milan star has labeled the duo as the most impressive players on the pitch.

“Everybody did their best on the day but I believe Rashid and Jerry were our best players,” Muntari said

“I was on the pitch and I can say that they were the best players. They had not played together but they combined effectively.

“That was the reason why Fatau Dauda was on a virtual holiday. How many balls did Fatau catch?

“It is because Rashid and Akaminko were resolute at the back and we should not gloss over their solid performance.”
