The MTN FA Cup awards will be held on an odd Sunday due to availability of the venue, the FA Cup Committee member, Kurt Okraku has explained.

The night event which is being staged at the new Movenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra would be the first in recent times for a football award to be held on a Sunday.

However, Okraku insists the date choice was well taught out.

"Sunday si a suitable day to host the awards to celebrate excellence in this year's FA Cup competition," he told Asempa FM.

"We we in the hunt for a very suitable venue benefiting this event and the plush Movenpick Hotel emerged but was only going to be available on the Sunday."

The FA Cup competition through the help of title sponsor, MTN, made a triumphant return to Ghana football after a ten-year hiatus.

Second tier club Nania FC emerged winners of the just ended edition after beating giants Asante Kotoko in the grand finale by a lone goal.
