Sunderland are making an attempt for Brentford winger Alan Judge.

The Irishman has been the Bees' talisman during the course of the season and both Burnley and Sheffield Wednesday have seen bids rejected for the midfielder.

Judge, himself, has stated he intends to stay with Brentford.

However, Sunderland boss Sam Allardyce wants to take Judge north and has the backing of owner Ellis Short.

Allardyce worked with Judge at Blackburn Rovers.
