The son of Ghanaian legend Abedi Pele, Andre Ayew, is attracting interest from Newcastle United and Sunderland.

Reports in France suggest the Marseille winger  has been watched by Toon and Black Cat scouts ahead of a possible January move to the Premier League. Ayew moved to Marseille in 2007 from his homeland of Ghana and has since had successful loan spells at FC Lorient and Arles-Avignon.

Ayew impressed at the World Cup in South Africa where he received the Man of the Match award against the USA and he has since made an impressive start for Marseille scoring 3 goals in his first 5 games.

Reports in France intimate that despite Ayew’s early season form manager Didier Deschamps is eager to replace the versatile winger with Wigan Athletic midfielder Charles N’Zogbia, which has alerted Steve Bruce and Chris Hughton.

Ayew’s father Abedi Pele, won the Champions League with Marseille in 1993 and the French Ligue 1 on 4 occasions.

Pele was one of the first Ghanaians to make an impact on world football being included in the FIFA 100 – the world’s greatest living footballers.

He has two brothers also are professional footballers, with Ibrahim at FC Zamalek and younger brother Jordan also at Marseille.

Ayew is valued in the region of £6 million and could seek a move in January if Deschamps swoops for Latics star N’Zogbia.
