SuperSport expects to take Ghana football to a higher level after securing the television broadcasting rights for the Ghana Premier League and MTN FA Cup.

The South Africa-based Pay TV channel sealed the deal last Friday and kicked off with high-quality production for last Sunday's Ghana Premier League derby between Hearts and Asante Kotoko.

For now, SuperSport will produce and telecast two live matches a week with the calendar expected to be altered to include matches on Friday night.

"We are more than excited about this partnership n are committed to add value to Ghana football," Max Tshunungwa, Head of Production Supersport Africa said on GTV's Stage Africa programme.

"We also want to help train locals to be able to produce games of the quality of Supersport coverage and I'm sure Ghanaians will be able to do this in a year's time."

It is rumoured that the broadcasting giants paid 2.1 million dollars for the three-year deal.
