Sporting Director of SV Hamburg Michael Mutzel says Ghanaian youngster Aaron Opoku could be set for another loan stint after falling behind the pecking order.

Opoku spent last season on loan at German Bundesliga 3 side FC Hansa Rostock.

The 21-year-old was given a shot at the side's U-21 season opener in the 1-1 draw against Lümeburg after his return at Hamburg after a successful loan spell.

The youngster was hoping to capitalized on his chances to become a regular at the Volksparkstadion.

“It's about the boys getting match experience. Aaron was open to that,” said sporting director Michael Mutzel and pushed after. "He's a little behind at the moment."

Is another loan deal even an option? Possible. “We said we would look at it in preparation. Then we have to make decisions together with the guys. It is clear that it is not good if you don't play for a year. If that were foreseeable, one would have to worry."

Opoku has a contract with the club until 2024.
