The General Secretary of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG), Charles Osei Assibey, has reassured the public that this year’s awards ceremony will take place as scheduled.
"God willing on Friday the event will come on at the Accra International Conference Center," he told Peace FM as monitored by Ghanasoccernet.com.
According to him, the team has been meticulously preparing for three months, navigating nominations and finalizing categories.
"We have gone through nominations, worked in various categories, and all. As I speak to you, we have completed. Maybe today, the new categories... the committee will know you they are going to award," he added.
Osei Assibey highlighted that several awards, such as the Meritorious Award and Discovery of the Year, have already been determined, while others, like the Hockey Player of the Year, will be voted on soon.
Marking its 49th edition, the SWAG Awards continue to celebrate Ghanaian sports heroes. "This should [be] done by government, but SWAG has taken it upon themselves… we have always come good," he concluded.
