Swansea's Paul Clement calls for Gylfi Sigurdsson transfer compromise

ESPN FC's Alexis Nunes and Steve Nicol dive into the latest transfer rumours surrounding football's biggest stars. FC's Paul Mariner isn't convinced that Everton would benefit from shelling out 50 million for Gylfi Sigurdsson this summer.

Gylfi Sigurdsson's proposed transfer to Everton remains deadlocked, with Swans boss Paul Clement calling for "compromise" on both sides.

Everton have yet to meet Swansea's £50 million valuation of Iceland international midfielder Sigurdsson, who will not be in Clement's squad for the Premier League opener at Southampton on Saturday.

A Swansea statement said that "although he continues to train well, Sigurdsson has featured in only one of the Swans' six preseason friendlies."

Clement told his prematch news conference: "We are at a critical stage of this situation and hope it's going to be resolved very quickly.

"The situation is that our club have a valuation of the player, the other club have a valuation, and at the moment the two have to meet.

"The objective and the aim is that at some point the two clubs will meet.

"I think the way it's going there needs to be, more than likely, a compromise on both sides. That is very often how a deal is made."
