Dushanbe: The Tajikistan Football Federation (TFF) has launched its Online Live Streaming Platform that enables fans to watch league matches live online.

Tajikistan is the fourth recipient of the Online Live Streaming Platform - after Bhutan, Oman and Kyrgyzstan – a project under the AFC President’s Initiatives programme.

The TFF selected the city of Khujand, 300km from capital city Dushanbe, to launch the platform by streaming the match between FC Khujand and FC Regar Tadaz.

Diego Compaire and Michael Miodownik of Empower Sports oversaw the implementation of the Online Live Streaming Platform and conducted a workshop for staff of the TFF, National Football League, clubs and several media representatives.

There has been a positive response from the viewers and fans with the platform steadily gaining popularity thanks to TFF’s promotion on their website and social media channels.

Alisher Urunov, Director of National Football League, said: "In today's world, football cannot only rely on traditional means of communication in order to reach its fans across the globe. We need to embrace modern and latest technologies to make the game reach as many fans as possible even far across.

“We in the TFF feel that this Live Streaming Platform provided by AFC through the AFC President’s Initiatives programme will assist us in making our matches and events available to our fans living in Tajikistan and also outside. Tajikistan has a huge community of expats living outside Tajikistan - especially in Russia and Europe. This online platform will enable the fans to watch the games live through a high-quality channel".

Faridun Saliev. Media Officer of TFF, added: "In Tajikistan, apart from the capital city of Dushanbe, it is difficult to broadcast the league matches from other cities and stadiums due to the lack of necessary infrastructure. Therefore, the online streaming platform is a boon to other cities whereby even clubs based outside Dushanbe will be able to stream the matches live on Internet. This will also help the federation and clubs to attract more fans and thereby attract more investments through sponsorship."
