Tariq Lamptey scores stunning goal as Brighton held by Leicester

Ghanaian defender Tariq Lamptey delivered a moment of brilliance for Brighton & Hove Albion, but the Seagulls let a two-goal lead slip to draw 2-2 against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium.

Lamptey, starting at right back, gave Brighton the lead in spectacular fashion late in the first half, curling a left-footed strike into the top corner after cutting inside from the wing.

The 23-year-old’s stunning effort was the highlight of an otherwise scrappy first half. Brighton had already missed several chances, including a Kaoru Mitoma miss from close range moments before Lamptey’s opener. Despite Leicester’s pressure, the Seagulls doubled their lead late on when Yankuba Minteh weaved past defenders to score what looked like the winner.

However, Leicester’s resilience shone through. Jamie Vardy pulled one back in the dying minutes before setting up Bobby De Cordova-Reid’s equaliser in dramatic fashion.

While Brighton will rue their missed opportunity to climb into the top five, Lamptey’s impressive performance and wonder goal stood out, underscoring his importance to the team and showcasing his attacking prowess.
