Ghana defender Harrison Afful breaks into the Team of the Week together with Sulley Muntari for the first time and Albert Adomah also makes a surprise first eleven as well as Ahmed Barusso.

Formation: 4-5-1

Adam Larsen Kwarasey:

The 22-year-old kept the post for Strømsgodset over the weekend in the 1-2 reverse at Tromsø.

Samuel Inkoom:

The right-back was instrumental in FC Basel's 3-1 triumph at Bellinzona.  Although he was subbed midway through the second half he was in his best form.

Harrison Afful:

The make-shift left-back has been consistent  for Tunisian outfit Esperance in the domestic League and the Caf Champions League.

Esperance lost 0-5 to TP Mazembe but gave a good account of himself to keep his head high.

Isaac Vorsah

The Black Stars center-back lasted the entire duration as TSG Hoffenheim cruised to a 4-0 win over Hannover 96 in the Bundesliga.

John Mensah

In Sunderland's 5-1 humiliation at Newcastle, Mensah started from the bench but was very solid at the back when he came on at the later stages helping in Darren Bent's consolation.

Anthony Annan

The little man played in runaway champions Rosenborg's scoreless stalemate at Kongsvinger.

Michael Essien

Chelsea struggled to suppress Blackburn Rovers at the Ewood Park and Essien was in his usual devastating form for the defending champions.

Sulley Muntari:

Inter relied on Sulley Muntari's 45th minute solitary strike to pick all three points at Genoa and he deservedly starts in the team of the week.

Ahmed Ampimah Barusso

Strong man Barusso scored a vital goal on the 78th minute for Livorno in the 3-0 win and it seems he is regaining his form and deserves to be in the starting line up for the weekend.

Kevin-Prince Boateng

Boateng broke into Milan's team that faced Juventus in Europe's topliner of the weekend and though the Milanese lost, he was quite okay in midfield.

Albert Adomah

Adomah inspired Bristol City to thump Middlesborough at the Riverside. He levelled the score on the 35th minute and City continued to win 2-1 at away.

Subs: Stephen Ahorlu, Jonathan Mensah, Prince Buaben, Quincy Owusu-Abeyie, Daniel Opare, Richmond Boakye-Yiadom, Asamoah Gyan
