The hug with a message from Koeman to Messi

Barcelona were celebrating on Wednesday evening as they recorded a 2-0 win away to Juventus in their Champions League clash in Turin. The players were visibly delighted with the result against the group's toughest opponents.

Lionel Messi converted a penalty to double the lead that was given to them by Ousmane Dembele's first-half strike.

It was Messi, naturally, who was the object of a lot of the online attention, particularly for something that happened after the final whistle. The captain, en route to the dressing room, was met by coach Ronald Koeman. The Dutchman rested his hands on Messi's shoulders and the two had a brief chat before embracing in a hug.

The moment was a nice touch to a good night in Turin and Koeman was asked about the moment he shared with the forward in his post-match press conference.

"My relationship with Leo has never been complicated," Koeman said. "I spoke with him at the time. The only thing I told him at the end of the game was that the game should have been killed off before it was."
