The tragic death of Asante Kotoko supporter Francis Yaw Frimpong, affectionately known as "Pooley," has left the football community in mourning.

Pooley was fatally stabbed during a violent altercation following the club's Ghana Premier League match against Nsoatreman FC at the Nana Konamansah Park in Nsoatre.

In the aftermath, Asante Kotoko circles chairman Alex Manu expressed gratitude for the prompt response by law enforcement. "Pooley is gone; there is nothing we can do, but we will protect what we have now. What we want is for the police to take action, and the action they have taken has started to reduce the pain. We trust Ghana Police and have left everything for them," Manu told Peace FM, as monitored by Ghanasoccernet.com.

The Ghana Police Service has initiated an investigation into the incident, with Inspector General of Police George Akuffo Dampare urging the football community to treat the matter as a criminal case. He emphasized the need for unity in combating hooliganism and called for support in bringing the perpetrators to justice.

The Ghana Football Association has responded by suspending the Premier League until further notice and holding emergency meetings with club executives to address the issue of violence at match venues.

The collective efforts aim to ensure that such a tragedy does not recur, honoring Pooley's memory and safeguarding the future of Ghanaian football.
