'They sell players like slaves'- Former Ghana defender Dan Quaye blasts football agents

Former Ghana and Hearts of Oak defender, Dan Quaye has hit out hard at football agents, blaming them for the decline of the domestic league.

Dan Quaye, a member of the 2006 World Cup squad, wants the Ghana Football Association to take serious action against early transfer of players from the Premier League.

The Ghanaian topflight has been faced with massive exodus in the last few years, with rising stars quickly sold to clubs abroad.

“Football agents have not been helping our game, they sell players like slaves and I would be happy if the Ghana FA take action against them,” he told Koforidua-based Bryt FM.

Last season, star players Kwame Opoku, Joseph Esso, Percious Boah and Daniel Lomotey were also transferred halfway through the season.

Other players including WAFA's youngster Augustine Boakye also left at the end of the season following a breakout campaign.

Ghana is noted as one of the biggest football talents exporters.
