Ivory Coast midfielder Seko Fofana has shared his excitement following his outfit's triumph over Nigeria in the just-ended 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Elephant triumphed over the Super Eagles at the Stade Olympic Alassane Ouattara Stadium in Abidjan to lift their third continental title. They came from behind to beat Nigeria 2-1 to clinch the title on home soil on Sunday night.

William Troost-Ekong headed home the opening goal in the first half of the much-anticipated encounter. The Super Eagles went to recess with the advantage.

Putting up a stellar performance, Ivory Coast came from a goal down to snatch a 2-1 win over their opponent to win the trophy.

Frank Kessie netted the equalizer before Sabastian Haller sealed the victory in the 81st-minute mark.

After the game, Fofana attributed his outfit's success at the tournament to grace.

“This is grace. Sometimes, God makes you go through a situation to show you, that you need to change something. We are very happy because this competition was not easy. There were a lot of good teams, so congratulations to everyone” he said.
