Thomas Partey granted permission to miss Morocco friendly- Ghana FA

Published on: 07 June 2021

The Ghana FA has been forced to pour  cold water on Thomas Partey's dismissal from the Black Stars camp for failing to report on time for the upcoming international friendlies against Morocco and Ivory Coast.

GHANAsoccernet.com reported on Monday that the 27-year-old was sacked from camp over the development - a report the media outlet still stands by.

However, the Ghana FA has backtracked and retreated after the Arsenal midfielder apologised to the coach for his failure to report to camp on time.

The FA has now been forced to deny the reports, claiming he sought permission from the gaffer to be excused from duty.

"Thomas traveled to Cape Coast on Thursday to meet Coach Charles Akonnor over some personal issues. After the meeting which lasted for about an hour, the Coach excused him from the trip to Morocco – and asked him to report to camp for the second game against Ivory Coast".

"As the first Deputy Captain of the Black Stars, Thomas later joined his colleagues in training to show solidarity and support before leaving for Accra. The Arsenal midfielder will therefore team up with the rest of the squad on Thursday when the team returns from Morocco", the FA said in the statement.

The Black Stars play away to Morocco in Rabat on June 8 before taking on Ivory Coast at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium on June 12 in these two international friendlies which will serve as preparations for the 2022 World Cup qualifiers in September.

The Twenty five players made the trip for the game on Tuesday.
