Abu Dhabi: The Abu Dhabi Sports Council has purchased all remaining tickets for the AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019 semi-final between the host nation and Qatar at the Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium.

The tickets were purchased on the directive of Sheikh Nahyan Bin Zayed, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, and distributed to fans eager to support the UAE in the semi-final on Tuesday.

The Abu Dhabi Sports Council, in a statement on its official social media account, said: “Under the directive of Sheikh Nahyan bin Zayed, Abu Dhabi Sports Council announces that it has purchased all the remaining tickets of our team’s match in the semi-final and they will be offered to loyal UAE fans."

Tickets were distributed at various locations with long queues forming and all the tickets snapped up. The Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium's seating capacity is 42,000.

Meanwhile, the Asian Football Confederation has reminded that ticket sales by unauthorised providers is strictly prohibited.

"As stipulated in the ticketing terms and conditions, tickets sales by unauthorised providers is strictly prohibited.

"The AFC takes a serious view of this breach and reinforces its commitment to protect the interest of fans who have legitimately purchased tickets from the official channels and more importantly, to ensure the safety and security of our fans, teams and all our stakeholders."

The Qatar-UAE semi-final will kick-off at 18:00 local time on Tuesday.
