Timing of Milovan Rajevac’s appointment wrong- Ex-Ghana defender John Paintsil

Former Ghana International John Paintsil, says the timing of Milovan Rajevac’s imminent appointment as Black Stars coach is wrong.

Coach Milovan is set to be announced as the new Black Stars coach by the Ghana Football Association later this week after Charles Kwabla Akonnor and his deputies were sacked last Monday.

CK Akonnor was sacked following Ghana’s uninspiring showing in the doubleheader against South Africa and Ethiopia in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers.

Milovan Rajevac emerged as favorite on the Coaches to have applied for the job and will be tasked to produce magic and qualify the Black Stars to another World Cup. A decision John Paintsil disagrees with the current Football Association.

Speaking in an interview, the former Fulham and West Ham defender said the Black Stars team that qualified to the 2010 World Cup under Rajevac had a lot of experience and quality compared with this current side.

According to him, Rajevac has no knowledge about the current Black Stars team which will make it difficult for him to build a competitive team within this short period.

“If it is true Milo is taking over the job then I will say the timing is wrong because how well does he know this current team?” Painstil said on Angel FM.

“Our time was different because all the players were already made and it will take only a miracle to help him qualify this team.”

Paintsil played under Rajevac at the 2010 AFCON in Angola and the World Cup in South Africa.

The Serbian is set to sign a two-year performance-based contract and will be paid $45,0000 monthly.
