Plenty of current and ex-professionals congratulated Jamie Vardy on breaking Ruud van Nistelrooy's record for goals in consecutive Premier League games, including the former Manchester United striker himself. The Dutchman tweeted:  "Well done Vardy7! You're number one now and you deserved it."

Ryman League side Bognor Regis Town have done it again. After beating Oxford City in the FA Cup they saw off another National League team, Bath City, to reach the first round of the FA Trophy. Skipper Jason Prior, who had a trial with Newcastle and previously played for AFC Wimbledon, hit the winner with an injury-time penalty he described as the "most important he has ever scored".
