Togo coach hopes for Adebayor re-think

Togo coach Tom Saintfiet is still hoping to convince Crystal Palace striker Emmanuel Adebayor to return to playing for the national side, despite the 32-year-old rejecting a call-up for their upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Tunisia.

Adebayor last played for Togo in June 2015 and rejected a renewed approach from his country so he can focus on his Crystal Palace career. However, Togo coach Tom Saintfiet hopes he will be able to convince Adebayor to change his mind about returning to the national team.

'Me as national team coach, I want Adebayor to return to the national team, I want him to be there, I want him to play and I want him to score goals for our country. I got the information that Adebayor gave a message that he is is not ready to come back, but let's see what happens in the next coming weeks,' Saintfiet told BBC Sport.
