Ex-Ghana star Anthony Yeboah has revealed he would have played for Bayern Munich in his career if not for Eintracht Frankfurt fans.

According to Yeboah, the fans ''would kill'' then Frankfurt directors if they agreed to sell him to Bayern.

After five successful years at Frankfurt where he won Bundesliga top scorer award two times, Bayern were interested in signing Yeboah in 1995.

“Normally I should have gone to Bayern Munich but Frankfurt would not allow because the fans would kill them so they said no: we are not allowing you to go even though Bayern was 100% interested,” Yeboah claims.

Yeboah was transferred to English side Leeds United. He made 47 appearances and scored 24 goals before returning to Germany to play for Hamburger SV.

He later played for Qatari side Al-Gharafa SC (formerly Al-Ittihad) before retiring.
