Top five Ghanaian referees banned from officiating in top-flight League

Top five Ghanaian referees have been banned from officiating in the ongoing First Capital Plus Premier League.

Controversial Awal Mohammed, Charles Nii Tagoe, Yakubu Liman and Theresa Bremansu have been dropped after they failed a mandatory fitness test.

However, Solomon Mordey was disqualified on technical grounds in a move which has received rave reviews in the West African country.

Refereeing is a major issue in Ghana with accusation and counter accusation of bribery and corruption.

But there have been some relative improvement this season.
