Tottenham eager to keep young gun Alli relaxed

Mauricio Pochettino says Tottenham must work to keep Dele Alli in a relaxed frame of mind.

The 19-year-old midfielder has been the talk of the football world following his rise to prominence for both club and country this season.

Alli produced a dazzling display on his full England debut against France on Tuesday, scoring a stunning goal, and continues to become a key part of the Spurs line-up.

During Sunday's 4-1 win over West Ham United, the former MK Dons starlet picked up an unnecessary yellow card for an altercation with Mark Noble when the score was 3-0, and Pochettino suggests it is important to keep a player such as Alli out of the firing line and focusing on delivering top quality football.

"He is young," Pochettino said. "He plays 10 or 12 games in the Premier League. He is 19. Last week was his first start in the national team. There are a lot of things in his head.

"We need to stay calm with him. He has a strong character and every fight he is inside it always.

"But he needs to stay calm - the result was 3-0 and he got a yellow card - but he is young and football is about experience to ensure next time he is relaxed."
