Ghana's Tourism Minister Catherine Afeku met former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger in Accra.

According to reports, Mrs Afeku was at the Kotoka International Airport to meet the Frenchman who was transiting from Liberia.

Wenger was in Monrovia where he was decorated with the country' highest honour from president George Weah last week.

He was inducted into Liberia's Order of Distinction and given the title of Knight Grand Commander of the Humane Order of African Redemption.

Information Minister Eugene Nagbe says Wenger was awarded because ''he has contributed to sports in Africa and has given many Africans opportunities.''
