Ghanaian striker Caleb Ekuban has been granted permission by Turkish Super Lig side Trabzonspor to travel to Italy to mourn the death of his mother.

Mrs. Sabina Amissah Ekuban is reported to have died on Wednesday night after a short illness in Verona.

Trabzonspor issued an official statement expressing their sadness and their effort to let the striker be in Italy.

The club stated: ''We have learned with great sadness that our football player Caleb Ansah Ekuban’s mother, Sabina Amissah Ekuban died as a results of a sudden disturbance on Wednesday night. Trabzonspor have given Caleb days off to travel to Italy and bury his mother. We share in the pain and we send our condolences.''

Ekuban will miss Saturday's trip to face Kayserispor in the league.

The on-loan Leeds United striker has scored one goal in eight league appearances.
