Ghana striker Abdul Majeed Waris says he was attracted to join Trabzonspor due to their Europa League credentials.
The 22-year-old sealed a shocking four-year move to the Turkish club on Monday from Spartak Moscow.
Waris is reported to have cost Trabzonspor 5.5m Euros as he looks to recapture his form that once saw him linked to English giants Chelsea.
The ex BK Hacken star had struggled to make an impact since moving to Russia in 2013.
Waris now says he made the decision to move to Turkey despite pleas from Spartak Moscow because he wanted to play in the Europa League.
“Spartak wanted to keep me, but I asked the President to let me go because Trabzonspor really wanted me and it is a great opportunity with Europa league and a club that wants to challenge for the title,†he revealed.
