Tuchel pledges future to PSG

Head coach Thomas Tuchel believes that there is better to come from his Paris Saint-Germain side, having extended his contract until the summer of 2021.

The 45-year-old German took charge in the French capital in the summer of 2018 and led PSG to a second successive Ligue 1 title, although they failed to win either the Coupe de France or the Coupe de la Ligue.

I'm sure that the best is yet to come for our club.

They also struggled to make an impact in the Champions League, being knocked out of the competition at the last-16 stage by Manchester United.

However, Tuchel is confident of improving matters in the future, having extended his existing contract by 12 months.

He told his club's official website: "I'm delighted to extend my contract and commitment to the club.

"This only reinforces my ambition to bring this team to the very top through hard work and I'm sure that the best is yet to come for our club."

Tuchel had previously hinted at a summer of reflection after seeing his side end the campaign with just three wins in their last nine league games, while also losing to Rennes on penalties in the final of the Coupe de France.

He told Canal+ following a 3-1 loss at Reims: "We must focus and stay together as a club, staff and team. We must be strict, rediscover our spirit and our work ethic from earlier in the season.

"We must be firm and consistent in our decisions together. Player recruitment will be essential too."

Meanwhile, France are 10/3 to triumph at Euro 2020, with Germany priced at 7/1.
