Mduduzi Shabalala, Kaizer Chiefs’ youngster, could head to Barcelona at the end of the season, according to the Siya crew.
Soccer Laduma edition 1258 reports that the Catalan giants contacted Amakhosi regarding the possibility of having their 17-year-old attacker visit them for an assessment.
However, no formal agreement has been reached.
Sources have now informed that Shabalala will likely go to Barcelona in June. He will undergo an assessment by La Masia Academy.
“La Masia made contact, but nothing has yet been confirmed. Crew members were informed by a source that they were checking for the possibility of having La Masia over, most likely around June.”
Shabalala’s popularity has rapidly risen both for Chiefs reserve, where he has been one the standout performers for Vela Kumalo, where Stuart Baxter roped him in during the devastating COVID-19 crisis.
Shabalala had been scheduled to fly out to Spain after being crowned COSAFA’s Under-17 Best Player in 2020.
The Technical Study Group selected him for a LaLiga development experience.
The latter would allow Shabalala to train with a local football team and observe Spanish football life, but COVID-19 forced the cancellation of the trip.
