Edmonton Oilers is interested in forward Claude Giroux.
The Oilers are considering the 34-year-old in case they don’t agree on a new contract with Evander Kane.
It is noted that Giroux has played mostly at the winger position lately, but continued to show good statistics on throw-ins (57.9% last season).
According to Lebrun, the player’s priority will be to sign a contract of more than one year.
Last season, the Canadian moved from Philadelphia, which he played for since 2008, to Florida.
He played a total of 75 games in the regular season and scored 64 (21+43) points. In the playoffs, he added 8 (3+5) points in 10 games.
For his NHL career, Giroux has 1,018 games and 923 (294+629) points. In the Stanley Cup, he has 95 games and 81 (28+53) points.
Under the terms of his expiring contract, his average salary was $8.275 million.
