Manchester United is reportedly set to offload French forward, Anthony Martial, this summer as part of their ongoing pursuit for a new long-term striker.

According to Manchester Evening News , the club has listed Martial, along with captain Harry Maguire and full-back Alex Telles, as players who will be made available for transfer in the upcoming window.

Martial’s injury record this season, with five separate lay-offs totaling 16 weeks, has played a part in the club’s decision to sell him. The 27-year-old striker has only managed to score 8 goals in the last two seasons and was sent out on loan to Sevilla in January 2022, where he only scored one goal in La Liga.

Despite his recent cameo in the League Cup semi-final second leg win over Nottingham Forest, where he scored as a substitute, Martial was withdrawn from the squad for the Premier League defeat of Crystal Palace.

United manager, Erik ten Hag, has made it clear that a new goalscorer is a priority this summer and the club has been linked with Tottenham’s Harry Kane and Napoli’s Victor Osimhen. Ten Hag is also reportedly interested in Benfica’s Goncalo Ramos and Mohammed Kudus, who he previously worked with at Ajax.

Martial signed for United in September 2015 for a fee that rose to £58 million, but has only managed to score more than 20 goals in a season once.

Despite this, the club has the option of an additional year on his contract which expires in 2024, making this summer a prime opportunity for them to cash in on the striker.
