The pilot Mercedes George Russell said that does not exclude the possibility of fighting for the championship already in the season 2022.
Despite being significantly behind the Red Bulls and Ferrari in the first part of the season, Russell has managed to score 111 points and is fourth overall – and 64 points behind Max Verstappen.
Max’s position looks bulletproof, but the situation could change very quickly. And if we can find a way to add speed and Ferrari can add speed too, then who knows how it will end? Maybe Mercedes will be in 1-2 positions, Ferrari will be in 3-4 positions and Red Bull will be in 5-6 positions. Do we still have a chance at the title? Of course – I see no reason to think otherwise, said Russell.
