Udinese coach annoyed with Zapata for giving away penalty

Udinese coach Stefano Colantuono was disappointed with his side, and in particular Duvan Zapata, after his side lost 2-1 to Genoa on Sunday afternoon.

The Zebrette were outplayed for much of the match but were leading 1-0 until Zapata stupidly handled Suso’s free-kick conceding a penalty in the process.

“Zapata did not need to what he did, I don’t understand why he handled the ball, ” Colantuono told Radio Rai after the match.

“Today we didn’t work hard enough, it was a poor performance. The only way we’ll improve is if we work harder, on and off the pitch.

“Today we conceded from a penalty and then from a rebound off a long shot. However, I believe we need to improve defensively. We also need to be more precise going forward.”

One positive for Udinese was the performance of Ali Adnan, who scored the first goal of the game and Colantuono was asked where the Zebrette found him.

“The scouting team found him when he was playing in Turkey, and we decided to bring him into the club,” Colantuono added. “He was great today and I hope he can continue to progress.!
