Udinese coach pleased with long-awaited victory

Udinese coach Stefano Colantuono is relieved that his side have won their first match since the beginning of January and commends the patience shown by the management at the club.

The Zebrette defeated Hellas Verona 2-0 and the coach admitted it has been a real struggle for his side to claim three points in 2016.

“We worked very hard in order to win this match, it was a good performance and a long time coming,” Colantuono told Sky Sport Italia.

The victory saw the Bianconeri’s eight-match winless streak come to an end and the 53-year-old hasn’t felt pressure from president Giampaolo Pozzo.

“When teams struggle, presidents will at times attempt to strike a bit of fear into their coaches but discussions with Pozzo have always been positive and clam,” Colantuono asserted.

“We have a good relationship, we speak three or four times a week and he always tries to keep me up to date.”

Talisman Antonio Di Natale has been reinserted into the starting lineup and the 38-year-old’s performance was fundamental to the victory.

“Di Natale has played a lot this year and at times it has been a struggle for him physically,” Colantuono admitted.

“He is still a complete player, just look at the ball which he gave Emmanuel Badu for the first goal.”
