The 56th-ranked Polish tennis player Magda Linette has commented on her sensational victory over Tunisia’s No. 6 Ons Jabeur in the first round of Roland Garros.
The match ended 3-6, 7-6, 7-5 in favour of Linette.
“Last year I lost to Ons here, this year in Miami, so I kind of knew what to expect. I had a definite game plan, but on the other hand, I knew she was on fire in terms of form right now, I just had to fight for every point and show real moral fortitude,” Linette said at the postgame press conference.
Notably, before Roland Garros, Jabeur was one of the strongest tennis players on the tour on the clay she won the WTA-1000 tournament in Madrid and reached the final at the WTA-1000 tournament in Rome.
