I’ve never beaten him, since my junior days. I lost to him at the Olympics last year. So I really wanted to beat him. The match was very, very hard, but I found a way to win.

It was crazy hot today, we were both tired. I like long rallies, he doesn’t. He wants to score on the forehand, but I tried to keep him running and moving. It was a clash of two psychologies. said Nishioka

Nishioka made only five unnecessary errors on 25 turnovers during the match. Khachanov had 35 winners and 36 faults.
