Raphael Varane Breaks Silence On His World Cup Missing Injury
The former Real Madrid man who won the World Cup with France 4-years ago is pained not to represent and defend the title he won with the French National team.
In a recent interview, the 29-year-old shared his thoughts on the injury and how he has been on a fast track to make a quick recovery.
Following the current season’s calendar, the Premier League will kick back into action after just days of the World Cup final and Varane is pushing to be ready before then.
“It [his injury vs Chelsea] was a difficult moment,” Varane said. At first, I thought I had a more serious injury than it really was. I thought it was over for the World Cup. A sportsman’s life has ups and downs, you have to pick yourself up and come back stronger.”
“I went into fast-track recovery mode, put in a lot of effort, and made a lot of sacrifices to be ready. It was difficult but I’m making the most of every moment. I know exactly what it means to wear the France jersey. I was desperate to overcome [the injury].”
