Roy Keane believes Manchester United needs to keep Cristiano Ronaldo.

We need to try to keep Ronaldo because he is a brilliant player. But we don’t know how he will behave when he comes back to the club. I don’t think what happened is as big a problem as everyone thinks. When you’re a coach, there are problems that come your way. You have to know how to deal with them. I think it can work out for United.

But I’m worried that if Ronaldo stays and Manchester United doesn’t start the season well, Cristiano will resent the coach. Then things could end badly.

Not having the Champions League is a big problem for Ronaldo, for his ego and brand. Why didn’t his agent make it a condition in the negotiations that Manchester United’s failure to qualify for the Champions League gives both sides an opportunity to look for exits? “If this is a ‘super agent’ with incredible connections who negotiate brilliantly, why isn’t this condition in Ronaldo’s contract?” – said the former Manchester United captain.
