Burnley forward Wout Weghorst has claimed that he wouldn’t mind remaining at Manchester United beyond his temporary stay at the club.

Weghorst joined Man United last week on loan from Burnley and his deal will run out at the end of the season.

The Netherlands international has made two starts for Manchester United since his winter arrival, thanks to Anthony Martial’s absence due to an injury.

Weghorst started against Crystal Palace and Arsenal but failed to hit the strides.

Despite his slow start to his Manchester United career, the 30-year-old is open to turning his temporary stay to a permanent one at the Theatre of Dreams.

Speaking ahead of the Nottingham Forest game on Wednesday, he said: “Of course [he wants to stay at Man United], but first I have to make sure I can be of value to the team and this club.”

On failing to score against Crystal Palace and Arsenal, he added: “In my career, I have always done one thing: score goals. We’ve had two games now.

“If I start missing big chances, then I have to start worrying. But I’m confident I can do it and I’ll be fine.”
