Spreadex – Overview & Rating
Spreadex.com operates in English.
Founded in 1999, Spreadex offers a sports spread betting service as well as fixed-odds betting, casino and also financial spread betting.
Spreadex was initially founded in Dunstable, Herefordshire by former city broker Jonathan Hufford before relocating to St. Albans in 2008.
Spreadex concentrated solely on spread betting until 2006 when it launched the fixed-odds service and then shortly after that it expanded into financial spread betting markets.
Spreadex is licensed and regulated by the Gambling Commission in the United Kingdom for their fixed-odds and casino products, as well as being authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority in regard to their spread betting markets.
As the only company offering sports spread betting, financial spread betting, fixed odds betting and a casino service this makes Spreadex unique. As well as this Spreadex offers their fixed-odds and sports spread betting on the same page allowing the customer to seamlessly move between the two types of bet.
As recently as 2020, Spreadex won the Best Sports Spread Betting Operator at the EGR Operator Awards and also the Best Financial Spread Betting Provider at the City of London Wealth Management Awards. Spreadex was also named in the Financial Times 1000 Europe’s Fastest Growing Companies in 2017.
Spreadex does offer an affiliate scheme although there are no details readily available as to what you will earn. You should just fill out a form and they will reply. This suggests that the percentages may vary from one affiliate to another depending on their reach and potential for attracting custom. If you are interested in the program more information can be found at www.spreadex.com.
There is a list of 75 countries where Spreadex is restricted from offering their fixed-odds or casino service. Notable countries are Australia, Canada, Mexico, Belgium, France, Spain, China, Japan, and the USA.
Design
With a predominantly white base, Spreadex’s site doesn’t particularly stand out. To the average bettor, the website could also appear cluttered as Spreadex provide both their fixed-odds and spread betting markets on the same page. However, as what it is on offer is so unique you would imagine that the sort of customer attracted to Spreadex understands the advantage of this and has hopefully done their research on spread betting.
The middle of the screen is dedicated to in-play betting and the next Horse and Greyhound races coming up. There is also an extra in-play column on the left.
There is an all-sports section across the top of the screen as well as specific sections for Football, Horse Racing, Golf, Cricket, Greyhounds, Rugby Union and Baseball. If you scroll further down the page all of the sports are also listed in alphabetical order down the right of the screen.
There is also a Spreadex mobile app that looks slightly more modern than the desktop version of the site. The mobile application is available from the usual app stores.
Services
Spreadex offers betting on 24 different sports such as Football, Darts and Cricket among others with both fixed-odds and spread betting options available wherever possible.
In Spreadex’s casino, there are over 90 slots games to play as well as American, European and French Roulette and also Blackjack. None of these games has a live dealer though.
In addition to the above, it also offers financial spread betting where you can bet on the world’s top financial money markets such as UK 100 and Wall Street. You can also bet on Forex trading and even Cryptocurrencies such as Tether or Bitcoin.
In the recent Europa League Semi-Final Second Leg match between Roma and Manchester United, Spreadex was competitive with their main spread betting rival, Sporting Index and also Bet365. Spreadex was the best price for a Roma win while offering the best odds on the draw alongside Bet365. However, it offered a slightly lower price for a Man Utd victory than both Bet365 and Sporting Index.
The average margin on Spreadex’s fixed-odds betting pre-match is between 5-6%.
Live
Spreadex offers live betting on most of the sports listed on their website for pre-match betting, with some of these sports, including Tennis, Cricket, and Greyhound Racing live-streamed for customers.
You can watch any event in which live streaming is available as long as you have placed a bet on it.
Just as with pre-match betting you have the option of fixed-odds or spread betting markets.
The average margin for live betting on the Spreadex fixed-odds service is between 6-8%.
Freebies, Bonuses and Promotions
Spreadex has two great welcome offers available upon signing up as a new customer. Firstly, if you place a £25 fixed-odds bet at odds of 1/2 or greater you will have five £5 free bets awarded on consecutive days. If you bet less, you will get fewer free bets. For example, betting £20 would only give you four £5 free bets, betting £15 would give you three £5 free bets.
If you are also interested in spread betting if you stake £300 on certain sports spread betting markets within 28 days of opening your account you can either get £300 cashback or a 10.2-inch WIFI 32GB iPad. If you bet less than £300 you can get the equivalent back as money available for withdrawal.
Both of these offers are advertised in the banner in the top centre of the screen.
There are no loyalty programs currently available with Spreadex.
Customer Care
Spreadex is available for queries via live chat, email, over the phone or you can even write to them if you don’t need an immediate answer. There are general contact details for customer services but there are also separate emails and telephone numbers depending on whether you wish to speak to the Sports Trading Room or Financial Trading Room for example.
Spreadex answers queries via live chat within a couple of minutes so this is always the best option if you want a quick response.
Registration
Bettors from the UK can register with Spreadex as it is governed by the Gambling Commission and the Financial Conduct Authority.
You can register by clicking the “Join” button in the top right corner of the screen. From there you input your personal information such as name and email address and create a username and password. You will be asked to confirm your nationality and country of residence. You are then asked to read Spreadex’s Terms and Conditions and agree to them.
On the next screen, you need to confirm your date of birth, address and phone number and confirm whether you reside in the UK for tax purposes. After this, you click the “Join Spreadex” button and your account is registered and verified for fixed-odds betting. Although there is nothing in the T&C’s to say that identification is needed be aware that any bookmaker reserves the right to ask for ID at any time.
If you want to also register for spread betting, you can do so by clicking “Activate Spreads”.
You will have to answer some further questions regarding your income and employment and confirm that you understand that you can lose more money than your initial deposit in spread betting. You can also set a credit limit if you want to.
After answering these questions as long as Spreadex is satisfied your account will also be enabled for spread betting.
Overall, the registration process can take between 5-10 minutes depending on whether you want to have a full spread betting account or if you prefer to stick to fixed-odds only.
Financial Information
The bookmaker accepts bets in Pound Sterling but it can, at their discretion, also accept other currencies such as the US Dollar or Euro.
The maximum payout per day, per customer, varies depending on the sport. The UK and Irish Horse Racing and English Professional Football, Internationals, UEFA Champions League and Spanish La Liga carry the highest limit of £500,000 for example. Other sports are lower, American Football is capped at £300,000 and Darts at £100,000. The full list is available within Spreadex’s Sports Rules.
There is no defined minimum or maximum bet within Spreadex’s rules.
Reliability, Integrity and Safety
As Spreadex has won multiple awards over the past few years as well as featuring in a Financial Times list, their integrity is not in question and it appears the media like them.
The website itself appears safe and it is one of the rare sites – due to their spread betting offering – which is also governed by the Financial Conduct Authority.
Customer reviews on Trustpilot are highly favourable towards Spreadex with 59% of reviews rating them as Excellent and 25% as great.
The positive reviews refer to how easy the site is to use which is great considering they have fixed-odds and spread betting all bunched together.
Another review mentioned the fact that someone from Spreadex calls you shortly after you open the account to make sure you understand spread betting and the risks involved with that.
What’s missing?
Spreadex is a very comprehensive site offering spreads and fixed-odds bets. If this review were to be picky Spreadex could offer a live casino as well as the fixed-odds casino and slots games it currently offers.
Live streaming does not appear to include any Football matches at the moment so this is something it could also expand upon.
Spreadex offers sports betting, in-play betting, betting on virtual sports, financial betting, slots and casino options. The same services are available in mobile mode and in the mobile app. There are 3 separate mobile apps available: for sports, casino and financial betting. All 3 are available both for Android and iOS platforms and can be downloaded in the App Store and Play Store.
