The head coach of Nigeria’s Super Eagles, Eric Chelle, has handed debut call-ups to eight new players ahead of the Unity Cup in England.
The Unity Cup is making a return after almost two decades. The tournament will begin with the Caribbean derby between Jamaica and Trinidad & Tobago on May 27.
The following day at the Gtech, the Super Eagles of Nigeria will battle the Black Stars of Ghana, with the winners of the two matches meeting in the final on May 31, 2025.
Ahead of the showdown between the West African rivals, Nigeria coach Eric Chelle has paraded a new-look Super Eagles side that does not include star forward Ademola Lookman and Victor Osimhen.
In the absence of the two world-class players, Coach Eric Chelle has handed call-ups to new attackers and other players to augment his squad.
The players handed debut call-ups into Nigeria’s national team include Ifeanyi Onyebuchi [Enugu Rangers], Junior Nduka [Remo Stars], Ojetoye Waliu [Ikorodu City FC], Christantus Uche [Getafe FC], Saviour Isaac [Enugu Rangers], Collins Chinemerem [Enugu Rangers], Sakiru Alimi [Remo Stars], and Adamu Abubakar [Wikki Tourists].
The new players must make an impression during the Unity Cup to stand the chance of earning future call-ups.
